About Us

From a Hobby to a Mission: Islamic Art for Everyone.

My name is Mehmet - an engineer by passion, a 3D printing enthusiast by conviction, and the mind behind Basmala Designs.

How it all began

During my mechanical engineering studies, I discovered 3D printing and quickly realized: what you can imagine, you can print. I made small items for friends and family, experimented, learned, optimized.

Then came the moment that changed everything: We wanted to buy an Islamic calligraphy for the wall - a beautiful piece, handmade, with meaning. But the price was simply too high for us. My thought was simple: I'll print it myself.

The Solution to a Technical Problem

The first hurdle was the limited build volume of my printer. Large calligraphies - which really make an impact on a wall - simply didn't fit. So I looked for a solution.

The answer: a precise dovetail joint. Individual segments are printed separately and assembled into a seamless overall image - invisible after assembly, absolutely stable, and still many times cheaper than its metal counterpart.

From Hobby to Offering

The first pieces were very well received. Requests from acquaintances accumulated, I collected more motifs, optimized them for 3D printing, and expanded the range. Eventually, the idea was too big to ignore: What if I offered this to everyone?

A sustainable, affordable alternative to expensive imports - handmade in Nuremberg, made to order, with genuine care. That's how Basmala Designs was born.

What sets us apart

  • Handmade in Nuremberg - every piece is printed in my workshop in Middle Franconia after your order, hand-finished, and carefully packaged.
  • No Import Trade - you buy directly from the manufacturer. No middlemen, fair prices.
  • Sustainable - exclusively recyclable PLA, produced only on order.
  • Every Piece for You - no mass production, no stock. Your piece is created when you order it.

Basmala - the name says it all. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim stands at the beginning of every surah of the Quran and every blessed undertaking. This is exactly how every piece I create begins: consciously, with care, and with meaning.
